Another World Intro Screenshots (Showing particle collider)

Here is a gallery showing the particle collider in the intro of another world. It shows you how I was instantly reminded of this game after all the news on the Large Hadron Collider.

On the subject of particle accelerators, have you tried Another World?

September 10, 2008

Every time I hear about particle accelerators it always reminds me of one of the best games ever. Another World is a game where a particle acceleration experiment goes wrong and the protagonist gets transported into another world (hence the title). The experiment goes wrong due to the site being hit by a lighting strike which is one thing that scientists have mentioned would disrupt the real world tests going on now (Not that it would cause the same effect mind). Upon being transferred into this new world the goal is to survive and ultimately escape the danger that awaits. At the time it was released Another World was available on PC and Amiga, but a newer high resolution version has been made for the PC. It is worth giving Another World a go even though it is 17 years old, the game has aged extremely well and the higher res version helps keep it looking good. Make sure you watch the intro where you can see the experiment, which resembles the one seen today.

September 3, 2008

There is currently a vote taking place on the Bad Company website that will allow you to help choose the contents of the next map pack. This map pack will contain four of the 6 singleplayer maps converted for conquest mode. The community get to vote on two and DICE will choose the other two. The map pack will thankfully be free which is a suprise considerin EA are not usually the ones to pass up on milking gamersĀ  for money. At the moment Par for the course is leading in votes, for those of you who cannot remember thats the golf course level. With Acta Non Verba looking to be the second community selected map.
